THE MH Range
The Multi Hanger (MH) external hanger range is engineered to provide reliable timber‑to‑timber connections in medium to high load applications, making it a versatile solution for structural designers.

Is a drop below the supporting member possible?
Yes — in principle, due to the way MH hangers are manufactured. However, it is important to understand that there is no single, fixed drop dimension that applies across the range.
Understanding the drop dimension
The drop dimension refers to any projection of the hanger below the back plate. This dimension varies by product size and is inherent to the hanger geometry.
For example:
The MHE380-39-170 allows for a drop of approx. 60mm
The MHE-490-50-220 allows for a drop of approx. 52mm
In these scenarios, the hanger maintains its full design capacity, as the back plate remains fully nailed into the supporting member.
What if a greater drop is required?
If the required drop exceeds the inherent allowance of the hanger, this results in a reduced nailing zone on the back plate. In these cases, the connection capacity will need to be reassessed under a reduced nailing scenario, and design input from the Technical Team is required.
As a key design limit, the maximum allowable drop is 30% of the total hanger depth, regardless of hanger size.
